About Cetac

CETAC was founded in 1966 by students at Chalmers’ Electrical Engineering Program to increase cooperative exchange between Sweden and the United States. The students renew the organization each year to make it serve as the administrative vehicle for their international internship search. For the past 44 years, CETAC has made it possible for over 1000 students to gain practical experience with American companies, while at the same time fostering international business cooperation.

All members of CETAC are students at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. We are all fluent in the English language and have completed at least three years of the coursework towards a MSc in either

Each summer, after a year of preparation, CETAC members go to North America to work as trainees for American companies, for a period of 8 weeks up to 12 months. The year of preparation consists of creating conditions to make the travel possible, finding host trainers and making all practical arrangements such as visas and insurances.

All practical arrangements are made in cooperation with ASF, the American Scandinavian Foundation.

When the trainee period in North America has passed, all CETAC members write a travel report. These travel reports are put together in our publication Trainee Report, along with technical articles and cultural reports. Trainee Report is published once a year, in the autumn, and is printed in 1500 copies. The publication is distributed to students at the Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Engineering Physics, Engineering Mathematics and Software Engineering departments of Chalmers, Swedish university libraries, our American host trainers and our Swedish advertisers.
